The Kansas City Wizards nine-game unbeaten streak came to an end with a 2-1 loss to the New York-New jersey MetroStars. Trailing 1-0 midway through the second half, Kansas City tied it up with a Chris Klein penalty kick. But Amado Guevara scored in the 66th minute to give the visitors the lead and eventual win. A win would have given Kansas City the best mark in Major League Soccer going into the All-Star break. Instead they remain in second place in the Western Conference with 32 points.
