The race for the Democratic nomination for Lieutenant Governor turns nasty. Senate Democratic Leader Ken Jacob of Columbia says he’s the best person for the job because of his experience as a lawmamker and the fact his Democrat opponent, Bekki Cook, dropped the ball when she was appointed Secretary of State after a scandal in 1994. But Cook says ran the Secretary of State’s office just and was elected. And she says she can bring something as leader of the state senate that Jacob cannot … civility. Cook says she’s moderate enough to win in November against a conservative Republican. Jacob does not back off his liberal label.
