The three main candidates vying to be Governor in Missouri weigh in on the proposed amendment to expand gambling in the state. Amendment One will decide whether Rockaway Beach in southwest Missouri will be allowed to put in a casino. The current state constitution limits casinoes to only on the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. Incumbent Governor Bob Holden generally favors people deciding this issue and will likely vote in favor. Democratic challenger Claire McCaskill has mixed feelings about the amendment. But McCaskill says she would probably vote for it as well. Republican Matt Blunt is unambiguous in his dislike of the idea. Blunt says it’s not the right economic model to follow. McCaskill says she’d rather make sure state money for education is preserved. Holden says this is an issue for communities to decide. The amendment appears on the August 3rd primary ballot.
