Just a little over a week from now, Missourians go to the polls in the August 3rd Primary elections. Among the positions being contested is that of State Treasurer. Three Democrats in that race. State Representative Mark Abel, former State Representative Jason Klumb, and Arnold Mayor Mark Powell are the Democrats running for State Treasurer. Abel, from Festus, says he has a wealth of experience at the local and state levels, including his service as House Minority Leader. Klumb, from Butler, is a lawyer who serves in the Missouri National Guard. He wants to use the office to help returning military personnel. He also wants to encourage Missourians to save for higher education. Arnold Mayor Mark Powell, with a background in banking and investments, wants to expand the powers of the office to have it involved in the budget process. The winner will face the survivor from a field of seven Republicans.
