The Cardinals finished up a four-game series with the Reds by earning a 10-4 win Sunday in Cincinnati. The Cardinals trailed 2-1, when they exploded for five runs in the top of the third to make it 6-2. Mike Matheny capped the rally with a two-run double and finished with three RBI’s. Jim Edmonds and Scott Rolen drove in two apiece—Rolen leads the Major Leagues with 84 RBI’s. On the mound, Jeff Suppan lasted six innings to earn his ninth win of the season. Suppan gave up four runs on seven hits and a walk to win his third straight game. The Cardinals have an eight-game lead over the Cubs in the National League Central and they could increase it Monday and Tuesday with wins in Chicago. It will mark the final two meetings between the Cardinals and Cubs during the regular season.
