The Cardinals will occupy three of the top four spots on the National League’s lineup at the All-Star Game. Shortstop Edgar Renteria will lead off, Albert Pujols will hit second and play first base, Giants outfielder Barry Bonds will hit third and Scott Rolen, who leads the majors with 80 RBI’s will hit clean up. Royals’ first baseman/designated hitter Ken Harvey is Kansas City’s lone representative. He’s hitting .304 with 10 homers and 34 RBI’s. Tony Pena will serve as an assistant for Joe Torre…Two Southwest Missouri State alums will be behind the scenes tonight. Astros’ bullpen coach Mark Bailey, who was an All-American with SMS in 1982, will toss batting practice for the National League. Lockwood, Missouri native Rex Jones is the athletic trainer for the Astros and will serve as the National League’s trainer tonight. He graduated from SMS in 1979.
