Controversy continues to swirl over a letter sent by a Governor Holden supporter in Springfield to would-be contributors, asking them to give the maximum to the Holden campaign and then to give more to the Greene County and State Democratic Committees, which would then forward the money to the Holden campaign. Two former State Representatives – Brian May of St. Louis and Douglas Harpool of Springfield – have sent letters of complaint to the State Ethics Commission, asking for an investigation of possible finance law violations. May says this kind of thing flies in the face of efforts at full disclosure of who is contributing. The original letter was sent by Springfield attorney Sam Hamra. The Missourinet has been unsuccessful, so far, in its attempts to speak with Mr. Hamra for comment.
