Blues center Mike Danton appeared in an East St. Louis, Illinois court yesterday to ask for a change of venue for his trial, which will start on September 1—it was originally to start in July. His lawyer Robert Haar believes there has been too much pre-trial publicity for Danton to receive a fair trial. In April, after the Blues were knocked out of the playoffs in San Jose, Danton was arrested for allegedly setting up a plot to have his agent David Frost murdered. Also charged is Katie Wolfmeyer, who is accused of helping Danton set up the murder-for-hire scenario. The plot was broken up when Wolfmeyer asked a friend, who is a police dispatcher in Illinois, if he knew anyone who would kill Frost for a price. Her friend contacted authorities and the FBI used him and Frost to set up a sting to arrest Danton and Wolfmeyer.
