Joplin native Jamie McMurray couldn’t eclipse the best road course racer in NASCAR. McMurray finished second to Jeff Gordon at Sonoma, California on Sunday. It was McMurray’s best finish so far this season and his eighth top-ten finish and his fourth top-five finish in 2004. With the finish, he moved up two spots to 11th on the points’ standings. He’s 83 points behind Kevin Harvick for 10th place…. Ken Schrader, a Fenton, Missouri native finished the race 23rd, while Rusty Wallace, who hails from St. Louis was 28th. Wallace dropped a spot in the points’ standings to 16th.
