Former Cardinal slugger Jack Clark has been replaced as the manager for the Mid-Missouri Mavericks of the independent Frontier League. He’s been reassigned as the head of baseball operations, which will allow him more time to deal with an ill relative. Jim Gentile will take over as the Mavericks manager—he’s the fifth skipper since the team began play in 2003. In 1961, Gentile finished behind Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle in the American League MVP race. The Mavericks were 4-26 under Clark.
