The Royals wasted a good effort from starter Dennys Reyes on Tuesday. Reyes gave up just two runs in seven innings, but the bullpen could not hold it. Atlanta rallied for two runs in the eighth, and beat the Royals 3-2. Andruw Jones scored the winning run for the Braves on a wild pitch by Jason Grimsley. Ken Harvey and Angel Berroa each had an RBI for Kansas City. The loss drops the Royals to 7-21 on the road. After the game, the Royals released veteran reliever Curtis Leskanic. Projected as the team’s closer at the start of the season, Leskanic suffered shoulder problems early in the year. He was 0-3 with an 8.04 ERA in 19 games, and recorded just two saves in five chances.
