Friday is a National Day of Mourning to honor former President Ronald Reagan, who died last Saturday at his home in California. Tribute is being paid by a Missouri Senator who first went to Capitol Hill when Reagan was in the White House. Senator Christopher Bond was first elected to the U.S. Senate during President Reagan’s second term in the White House. Bond remembers Reagan as a great man who sent a message of hope, freedom, and opportunity to the world. He tells Senate colleagues it’s only appropriate that the country and the world honor Reagan on Friday. Bond says Reagan was never afraid to do what he thought was the right thing to do – even when government and international experts cautioned him about going against protocol. Bond says the American Dream is taking hold throughout the world and Ronald Reagan deserves a great deal of credit for that.
