The military will expedite absentee ballots coming back to local election officials, but probably not in time to help in Missouri’s August 3rd primary. Missouri National Guard spokesman Lieutenant Jamie Melchert says the ballots will be “Express Mailed” to make sure ballots get to the troops on time so they get back to local officials in time. But the expedited procedure won’t be in effect for the upcoming August 3rd primary. There are concerns the delay in finalizing the ballot because the same-sex marriage ban fight delayed the ballots getting to the troops overseas in time. 1,500 to 3,000 state Guardsmen could be affected.
