The message for Missouri Republicans attenting their state convention in Springfield is that the party is united – united in its effort to re-elect President George W. Bush, united in its effort to re-elect Republican majorities in both chambers of the Missouri Legislature, and united its effort to win the Governor’s office in November. In addition to the rallying, Rerpublicans completed selection of delegates to the Republican National Convention in New York City this summer. 57 delegates and 54 alternates have been chosen to represent Missouri in the Big Apple. A party platform has been approved, as well. Missouri Republicans express their opposition to abortion and to same-sex marriage. And, the party pledges to support efforts to put an immediate end to the policy of withholding appropriated funds from public schools – a shot at Governor Bob Holden and his decision to withhold funds after claiming revenues to fully fund education were not available.
