Mike Sweeney’s late heroics gave the Royals a 5-3 win over the Tigers in Detroit Tuesday night. Sweeney drove in a run with a single to break a 3-3 tie. Later in the inning Ken Harvey hit an RBI single of his own to give Jeremy Affeldt some cushion in the bottom half of the inning. Chris George allowed three runs in his first start of the year, but didn’t get the win.
