If there were any concerns about Albert Pujols hitting .300 this season, they are disappearing. Pujols raised his batting average to .321 on Tuesday night with a 5-for-5 performance which included his major league-leading 16th home run. His performance helped the Cardinals to an 8-1 win over the Pirates in Pittsburgh. Pujols drove in three runs and scored three times, as well. St. Louis had a scary moment when third baseman Scott Rolen was hit in the helmet with a pitch from Ryan Vogelsong. Rolen took his base and scored, but was eventually taken out of the game and examined. He’ll be OK. On the mound, Jeff Suppan completed seven innings and allowed one run off six hits and two walks to improve his record to 5-4…. So far the news is good for a couple of Cardinals in the National League All-Star balloting. Albert Pujols and Scott Rolen lead the way at first base and third base. The 2004 All-Star Game will be at Houston.
