The Memorial Day holiday weekend is upon us and the Missouri State Highway Patrol is expecting a lot of traffic on Missouri’s roads. Many Missourians are heading off in various directions. Add to that travellers from elsewhere who are making their way through the Show-Me State this weekend and we’re looking at some very busy roads. That usually means a lot of work for the State Highway Patrol. The Patrol’s Captain Chris Ricks says every driver and passenger should keep one thing in mind, seatbelts save lives and anyone in a moving vehicle should be buckled up. Ricks also reminds motorists that it’s a wise idea, especially in traffic or in wet weather, to let up on the gas pedal. Drinking and driving is, of course, not to be tolerated. Eleven people died on Missouri’s roads last Memorial Day weekend. At that time, 1,300 crashes were handled by the Highway Patrol.
