The Central Missouri State baseball team advanced in the losers’ bracket of the NCAA Division-II World Series with a 7-3 win over Kutztown (Pa.) Tuesday. The Mules got runs in the first, second and fourth innings to take an early 3-0 lead. Joe Strada, who drove in a run with a fielder’s choice in the first inning, made it 5-0 with a two-run homer in the seventh inning. Kutztown rallied for three runs in the eighth inning to get within 5-3, but the Mules got most of their original distance back with two runs in the ninth. On the mound Danny Powers lasted seven innings and gave up two runs off four hits to get the win. CMSU improved to 55-7 on the season to set a school record for wins in a season. They’ll face Bryant College (RI) on Wednesday at 2:30.
