We’ve heard a lot lately that the same-sex marriage ban amendment would be good for Republicans and bad for Democrats if put on the November ballot when the two sides go head-to-head. A political science expert explains why the issue matters to candidates. Mark Rushefsky is a political science professor with Southwest. Missouri State University. He says the gay marriage ban is more likely to bring out conservative Christian voters. And Rushefsky believes those conservative voters would, in turn, also vote for Republicans on the ticket when they are head-to-head with Democrats. He says it won’t necessarily be a big difference but every vote counts. Rushefsky says he would bet the same-sex marriage ban will end up on the November ballot where it will most likely pass.
