Could this be a turning point? The Royals got a two-out, two-run double from Mike Sweeney in the ninth to beat the Blue Jays 4-3 at Kauffman. Carlos Beltran set up Sweeney’s heroics with a two-out walk and scored the winning run from first base. In the first inning, Beltran hit his 10th home run of the season and put Kansas City up 1-0. Angel Berroa’s RBI double in the fifth tied it at two. Nate Field got the win on the mound by pitching the eighth and ninth innings. He gave up a run in the eighth, but it was charged to Jaime Cerda, who put two men aboard before Field was brought in. Field only allowed one hit and improved to 2-0 on the season. The Royals have won two in a row, which is something they hadn’t done since April 10 and 11. It was also their first series win since taking three-of-four from the Indians in that same series.
