Governor Bob Holden’s “Jobs Now” program runs into opposition and an effort to “pile on” other Legislation in the last week of this session. The Governor wants to create jobs by selling bonds for public works projects. The proposal has run into objections from several Senators who say it’s a bad idea for a lot of reasons. They see no reason for the state to go into debt to pay for things it shouldn’t pay for. The bill has been put on the shelf for now because so many lawmakers have tried to amend their bills onto it – their only chance to get their bills passed this year.
