The State Senate could send an anti-gay marriage proposal to a statewide vote today. Sponsors are trying to push a proposed constitutional amendment through the Legislature. They’re running into opponents who say they’re trying to put discrimination into the state constitution. Senator Sarah Steelman of Rolla, the sponsor, says courts will have a harder time overturning the ban if it is in the constitution.
