Darrell May finally chalked up his first win of the 2004 season as the Royals got the best of the Red Sox 8-4 at Fenway. May lasted 5 2/3’s innings and gave up just two runs off seven hits and a walk—he’s 1-4. Offensively, Carlos Beltran was the catalyst for Kansas City Sunday afternoon. In the sixth inning, Beltran hit a bases-clearing, three-run double to give the Royals a 6-2 lead. In the eigth, he struck again with a ground-rule, RBI double to give Kansas City a 7-2 lead. Mike Sweeney had two RBI’s thanks to a two-run double, which tied the game at 2-2 in the third inning. The win snapped a four-game losing streak.
