Two lawmakers from Missouri agree the images of abuse of Iraqi prisoners by Americans are terrible and undermine much of the good being done in the country. Senator Christopher Bond worries the images could make some think now and in the future that that kind of treatment is acceptable against Americans. West Central Missouri Congressman Ike Skelton, the ranking Democrat on the U.S. House Armed Services Committee, agrees this tends to overshadow the good done. Skelton says, though, America cannot be deterred in her efforts. Bond hopes the unprecedented appearance by President George W. Bush on two Arab television networks will help in the damage control.
