The Cardinals woes at home continued on Wednesday with a 6-3 loss to the Phillies. The Cardinals took a 2-1 lead in the first inning, when Edgar Renteria connected on a two-run single. Down 3-2 in teh fifth, Albert Pujols drove in Marlon Anderson with a single and it stayed 3-3 until the ninth inning. David Bell scored on a grounder from Ryan Madson, but it wasn’t without controversy. Pujols barehanded the grounder and appeared to get the throw to catcher Mike Matheny in time, but Bell was called safe. Later in the inning Jim Thome hit a two-run single to make it 6-3. St. Louis went down in order in the bottom of the ninth. Mike Lincoln was charged with three runs and the loss. The Cardinals are 3-9 at Busch Stadium this season.
