Vice President Dick Cheney pays a visit to Westminster College in Fulton – the site of Winston Churchill’s famous “Iron Curtain” speech – to deliver a foreign policy address of his own. In a speech designed to set the policies of the Bush Administration apart from those of presumptive Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry, Cheney told a crowd of several hundred that the U.S. and other democracies cannot wait for evil to occur before action. Cheney says America’s leaders must be unwavering in their belief in the willingness to use whatever power is necessary to prevent a threat from harming innocent people. He says President George W. Bush is committed to doing whatever is necessary to protect this country. and, the questions some of the policy ideas floated by Kerry and other Democrats.
