Republican gubernatorial candidate Matt Blunt unveils a plan he hopes will create jobs and stimulate economic growth. While trying to point to massive job losses in Missouri during Democrat Governor Bob Holden’s time in office, Blunt is careful not to blame fellow Republican President George W. Bush – in office during the same time. Holden’s Economic Development Director Kelvin Simmons faces a similar predicament. While national party leaders try to play up massive job losses to hurt Bush in Missouri, Simmons tends to look at positive data. Simmons says Missouri has a positive business climate. Blunt points to a National Chamber of Commerce statistic that ranks the state’s business legal climate as near the bottom of all the states.
