The target of Mike Danton’s alleged murder for hire plot may very well have been his agent David Frost, according to a report in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch this morning. Frost denied that speculation in an interview with the paper. According to a criminal complaint, the two men argued about Danton’s promiscuity and alcohol problems last week and Danton was apparently concerned that Frost would contact the Blues about it. Danton’s father, Richard Jefferson, has described Frost as a “monster” and blames him for the rift in his relationship with his son. Yesterday Danton’s accomplice, Katie Wolfmeyer, was released from an East St. Louis, Illinois jail on $100,000 bond. She’s accused of introducing Danton to a person she thought would carry out the murder. That person, who is unnamed, told authorities about the plot. The intended target was also told of the scheme and helped authorities to record a phone conversation with Danton. Danton is still in jail in California, awaiting extradition.
