Blues center Mike Danton is in jail in California and will be extradited back to the St. Louis area after being arrested on Friday. Danton is accused of plotting to have another man killed. Katie Wolfmeyer, 19, is also in jail for her part in the alleged scheme. According to a criminal complaint, Danton asked Wolfmeyer, who works at the Blues practice facility and plays volleyball for St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley, if she knew anyone who would kill someone for $10,000. According to the report, Danton told Wolfmeyer that the person he wanted killed was trying to kill him. Wolfmeyer then allegedly told a third party, who is cooperating with the FBI. The intended target is an acquaintance of Danton’s who helped the FBI in setting up a recorded phone conversation between the two. Suggestions that Danton and the other man are romantically or sexually involved have been denied by sources close to Danton and the situation in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Beyond that, there is little speculation as to the nature of the relationship between Danton and the un-named acquaintance. Danton was arrested soon after the Blues were knocked out of the Western Conference playoffs in San Jose.
