The Cardinals 2004 season is off to a rough start. St. Louis dropped three-of-four in their opening series to Milwaukee, including yesterday’s 11-5 loss. Jeff Suppan, who came to the Cardinals during the off-season, had a shaky debut. The former Royal lasted four innings and gave up six runs off eight hits and three walks. The two teams combined for seven home runs Thursday. Cardinal first baseman Albert Pujols had two of them and Brady Clark of the Brewers had two as well. The Brewers probably could have scored even more runs with some timelier hitting—they left 12 men on base. The Cardinals are in Arizona this weekend.
