An $18.6-Billion proposed state budget has been completed by the House and sent to the Senate. House leadership postponed work on the budget until after Spring break, then worked members hard for two days to complete work on the state spending plan for the fiscal year than begins in July. Supporters say the budget provides $100-Million more for public schools. The budget also would provide a two-percent across-the-board pay raise for state workers. It also proposes eliminating 1,700 state jobs and making cuts to Medicaid. The budget now moves to the Senate, which will begin work next week.
