Missouri is moving closer to having a mandatory seat belt law. The State Senate has advanced a bill changing the present standard which lets police ticket motorists for failing to buckle up only if they are ticketed for something else, too. The new standard would let officers write tickets for failure to use a seat belt – even if there’s no other driving offense involved. The issue will be sent to the House next week.
