The St. Joseph school district has won an appeal, with the Missouri State High School Activities Association, which will allow 22 freshmen, who aren’t going to their designated school, but within the their district, to play varsity sports this spring. The school district’s open enrollment policy allowed freshmen with decent grades and no discipline problems to attend the high school of their choice. When they learned they were in violation of a MSHSAA by-law which would have required those 22 students to play on either freshmen or junior varsity teams this year, the St. Joseph school district asked for and got the appeal for this year only.
