The Cardinals have made the battle for second base more interesting. With Marlon Anderson and Bo Hart battling, infielder Tony Womack will enter the mix after being traded to the club yesterday. The Cardinals sent right-handed reliever Matt Duff to the Red Sox. However, Womack won’t be available to play in the field until April. He’s recovering form Tommy John surgery in his right elbow. Womack played for the Pirates, Arizona and the Cubs last season. Womack will be remembered for eliminating the Cardinals from the 2001 NLDS with a game-winning single in the ninth inning of Game 4. The Cards beat the Braves 6-4 in spring training…The Royals topped the Angels 3-2.
