If you’re in St. Louis today, you may run into a lot of people watching their weight. The 74th annual NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships are going on at Savvis Center beginning today. St. Louis also hosted the event in 2000. In fact, the Gateway City is turning into a magnet for NCAA championships. By the end of the decade, St. Louis will have hosted seven title events including the two wrestling tournaments, the 2001 and 2009 Women’s Final Four, the 2005 Men’s Final Four and the 2007 Frozen Four (men’s hockey). Interestingly enough, the Missouri Tigers have one of their strongest teams ever, with the tournament just 125 miles away. Five Tigers— Jeremy Soates (149 lbs.), Kenny Burleson (157 lbs.), Blake Askren (174 lbs.), Matt Pell (184 lbs.) and Jeff Foust (197 lbs.)—will represent MU this year.
