The State Highway Commission has put together a seven member team to search for a new State Transportation Director. Members of the team include highway commissioners, a MoDOT engineer, state lawmakers, a representative from the Governor’s office, and an executive search firm. Some qualifications for candidates will include an extensive background in the transportation industry, progressive and proven leadership abilities, and a high degree of political abilities. The search firm will come up with a long list of candidates, pare it down to just a handful for the Highway Commission to interview. Meanwhile, the seven person search team will be able to look at the finalists’ resumes, but won’t do any face-to-face interviewing. Some team members express some concern about that part of the process and say that might be changed.
