If you want a copy of a public document, you don’t know going-in how much it might cost you. There’s no uniform standard in Missouri. Senator Sarah Steelman of Rolla wants to set a flat rate – ten cents per page. But Senator Wayne Goode of Normandy isn’t sure a flat rate works. He says it might be fine for the average person walking in off the street wanting a copy of a small document. But he says some requests for copies are onerous. Steelman has tried for two days to get a vote in the senate on her bill. She will try on a third day – but does not know when that third day might be.
