The State Health Department has announced an emergency preparedness program intended to keep Missourians ready for any disaster that might strike. Director Richard Dunn says the “Ready in 3” program provides three simple steps that families can take to be prepared. Step one is to create an emergency plan. Step two requires the preparation of an emergency kit containing such things as water, canned or dried food, a battery-powered radio, a flashlight, extra batteries, prescription medicine, and a first-aid kit. Step three calls for Missourians to be ready to listen to radio and television for important emergency information. A copy of the “Ready in 3” Family Safety Guide can be obtained from the State Health Department at 573-751-6062 or on-line (below).
