A survey conducted by the State Department of Education finds more and more school districts are turning to local taxpayers to raise dollars for public schools.Education Commissioner Kent King says all 524 districts in the state were contacted and replied to the survey. Of that number, 113 planned to have tax levies put to voters on the February or April ballots. He says local boards are dealing with a choice they would rather not have to make. Eight districts had ballot issues in February. Five dealt with tax levies that passed, while two had bond issues that passed.
