The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that Royals catcher Benito Santiago is one of six baseball players who received steroids from a nutritional supplement lab in San Francisco, according to federal investigators. The Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative is believed to have supplied illegal performance enhancing supplies to Santiago, Jason Giambi, Barry Bonds and Gary Sheffield, among others. Oakland Raiders linebacker Bill Romanowski has also been mentioned. Santiago’s agent, David Cornwell said many players didn’t know they were getting steroids.
