Coming into spring training there were few distractions or controversies for the Royals. Manager Tony Pena settled one possible talking point when he announced yesterday that Desi Relaford would start at second base. Pena did say that Tony Graffanino could still beat Relaford out, but it was basically his job to lose. Some concerning news for the Royals surfaced Monday when pitcher Miguel Asencio failed throw for the second straight day with elbow discomfort. He had elbow surgery last June to remove bone chips.
