A Missouri Congressman is trying to convince his colleagues in Congress to take steps to keep American companies from setting up shop outside the country. One of the big issues emerging in this year’s presidential and congressional campaigns is the outsourcing of American jobs. Northeast Missouri Congressman Kenny Hulshof has told a Missouri Chamber of Commerce tax policy conference that while one reason for this outsourcing is the cheaper labor in other countries, and another is freedom from American litigation threats, America’s tax system does not provide incentives to U.S. companies wanting to stay here. Hulshof concedes that in an election year, it’s unlikely Congress will act soon on any business tax initiatives.
