The first concealed weapons carrying permit has been issued, and it happens only days after the State Supreme Court ruled that it is constitutional to carry a concealed weapon. Sheriff Kenny Jones of Moniteau County has issued the permit to State Representative Larry Crawford of California. Attorney General Jay Nixon says he doesn’t know the specifics of the Moniteau County action, but believes anything done in conjunction with state law is legal. Crawford was the House sponsor of the conceal-and-carry gun law. He has put forward a new piece of legislation which he believes address the Hancock Amendment funding concerns raised by the State Supreme Court.
