The Cardinals have come to terms with a controversial pitcher. The team claimed left-handed pitcher Luis Martinez off waivers from the Brewers. His numbers were good enough last season…he had 172 strikeouts in 177 innings and went 12-5 in the minors last season and was the Brewers minor league pitcher of the year. But two and a half weeks ago Martinez was accused of shooting a man in the Dominican Republic after an argument over a parking spot escalated. He has apparently reached a settlement of some sort with the victim and is expected to join the team today. Martinez claims the other man drew his gun first and that he reacted in self-defense.
