Attorney General Jay Nixon is vowing to continue the probe into fraud involving one of the state’s tax credit programs. This, after a husband and wife in St. Louispleaded guilty to two counts each of defrauding the state by illegally taking money out of the Rebuilding Communities program. The program is designed to bring high-techcompanies to poorer areas. But James Holtrop and Jill Meyerhardt set up a phantom company and received $300,000 in state money. Nixon says sentencing of the two will bedelayed until next year to ensure they cooperate with the Attorney General’s office in the search for what Nixon calls the kingpins of the operation. He says we couldeventually learn of millions of dollars in tax credit money being stolen.
