State Auditor Claire McCaskill has made a pitch to the state’s business community, asking for a chance to lead. McCaskill, who’s challenging Governor Bob Holden for the Democratic Party nomination for Governor, talked to a Missouri Chamber of Commerce gathering in Jefferson City about business and government working together in a spirit of cooperation. Following her speech, McCaskill told reporters the name calling at the Capitol must end and civility must return. McCaskill says she hopes her message to the business community will show this traditionally Republican-leaning group that she should be given an opportunity to lead the state. Secretary of State Matt Blunt, the Republican candidate for Governor, addressed the gathering, saying he is best suited to move into the Governor’s Office next year. Governor Bob Holden was not invited to the event.
