By the busload teachers, school administrators, and students from throughout the state came to the State Capitol in Jefferson City today to rally in support of education. Organizers say several thousand people showed up at the event. Prior to the rally at the State Capitol, Governor Bob Holden addressed the Missouri School Boards Association, which was meeting nearby. He told educators Republicans are criticizing him for coming up with solutions to a funding problem he claims the Republicans created. House Speaker Catherine Hanaway had asked for a chance to address the audience, but she was denied the opportunity.
