An effort is being launched in the State Senate to improve Missouri’s schools. Senator Charlie Shields of St. Joseph has introduced a measure to create a House-Senatecommittee to develop new strategies to deal with some of the problems involved in the actual teaching of children. The first task of the committee would be to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the rules and policies concerning the administrative burdens of teachers. Shields says it’s crucial that the Legislature eliminate what he calls unnecessary and burdensome regulations that stifle teachers and school districts from improving education.
