Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville is a big step closer to becoming part of the University of Missouri system. Northwest’s Board of Regents and Missouri’s Board of Curators have voted to approve the proposed merger, which would make Northwest the fifth campus in the system, joining University of Missouri campuses in Columbia, St. Louis, Kansas City, and Rolla. The union still needs the approval of the Legislature and Govrnor Holden.
