Governor Bob Holden says he has narrowed down his list of candidates for the two positions on the State Highway Commission with Chairman Barry Orscheln’s term being up in March and Ollie Gates’ resignation last December. Holden says he needs to pick one Democrat and one Republican – with one of them from the Kansas City area and the other from Northern Missouri – from a list of about eight to 10 candidates he’s considering. Holden won’t say who is on that short list. He says he’ll make an announcement sometime in March. The Governor adds look at his previous appointees: current commissioners Jim Anderson, Duane Miche, and Bill McKenna if you want to know what kind of a person he’ll pick.
